Members Systems - Sideburn Brewery - Rick Burnside
Rick Burnside's system is a form of the classic, take advantage of your enviroment type of setup. Gravity fed and cooler tun fueled, Rick's system is heated with 2 main burners, plus a third burner and kettle for use in decoctions or adjunct mashes for his famous version of the classic Dougweiser. Here Rick's system is getting a workout brewing his Christmas ale.
Stirring up the boil kettle, a brewing partner gets the whirlpool set to settle the hops and hot break.
Brewer's need fuel too. Please note the classy presentation.
Rick runs a large cooler lauter tun. Notice the copper sparging pipe installed in the top. The threaded connection is just visible at the top left.
In a slightly different configuration than most brewers boilers, Rick has installed a copper ring manifold in the bottom. Just as with a mash tun, this helps filter out the hops and protein.
Keeping things cool and regulated is Rick's chest freezer. Notice that Rick runs all his blowoffs into the same pot.
    A small beer? Not today.
